Belfast Lough Sailability gets involved in Disabled Access Day
Christine from Belfast Lough Sailability shares their plans for Disabled Access Day now that we’ve passed the 100 days to go mark. Join them on 12th March and make a splash!
On Saturday 12th March 2016 Belfast Lough Sailability (BLS) will be joining in Disabled Access Day organised by Euan’s Guide.
Commenting on the 2016 Disabled Access Day, BLS Chair Anne Taylor said. ‘At Belfast Lough Sailability we offer something unique to the community: access to Belfast Lough, our great local natural resource for people with disabiliities and disadvantages who might otherwise never have that possibility'.
Belfast Lough Sailability’s base opposite the Premier Inn, Carrickfergus will be open house to visitors on the day between 11am and 1pm and weather permitting there will be an opportunity to go out onto the water in sailing and motor boats. BLS has specialised craft for that purpose along with support and safety craft. Alternatively there is an opportunity to look around the facilities and learn more about the group’s ‘on the water’ activities for people with disabilities. Buoyancy aids are provided and please dress in warm clothes.
Volunteering opportunities are also available through BLS and approximately 40% of our volunteers have a disability of some sort or another, so if you would like to join us we would love to hear from you.
