Hovertravel is taking part in Disabled Access Day
HoverCare is inviting disabled people, their friends and families to join them for an exciting new event on Disabled Access Day. Their ‘Try before you Fly’ event is taking place on Saturday 16th March 2019 at their Portsmouth and Isle of Wight hoverports.
During the event, wheelchair users and mobility scooter users will have the opportunity to meet with the pilots, crew and staff of Hovertravel and have a go at embarking and disembarking from hovercraft. This is a unique opportunity for passengers to learn more about hovercraft access and HoverCare services.
The event takes place on Disabled Access Day, the awareness raising event all about ‘you and somewhere new.’ The hovercraft will be open to visitors on the Isle of Wight between 10.00am – 10.30am at Ryde, and in Portsmouth between 12.00pm - 1.30pm at Southsea.
Neil Chapman, Managing Director at Hovertravel said:
“Inviting people to see our hovercraft and terminals both at Ryde on the Isle of Wight & at Southsea in Portsmouth for Disabled Access Day is an important part of our ongoing HoverCare initiative. We started HoverCare to make travel across the Solent easier for all and, now 18 months later, supporting an event like this re-enforces our continuing commitment to accessibility. We continue to learn by listening to our customers and through forums such as Euan's Guide and Disabled Access Day offers a great opportunity for us to maintain this dialogue.”
All visitors who meet HoverCare Ambassadors on the day will be issued with a HoverCare card and given a ticket for two to travel on board in the future.
