Friday is finally here! After a long week, are you longing to take off to somewhere exciting for the weekend?
With lots of holiday accommodation signed up to take part in Disabled Access Day on March 12th, it’s the perfect opportunity to start planning a relaxing weekend retreat. We have hotels, holiday cottages and lodges taking part the length and breadth of the country, so whether you feel like escaping to the Welsh valleys or the Scottish Highlands, we’ve got some suggestions for you!
The Countryside Getaway: Hoe Grange Holidays, Derbyshire
Hoe Grange Holidays' luxurious log cabins are situated at the edge of the Peak District and surrounded by scenic Derbyshire hills, making it the perfect spot to unwind and spend some time in the great outdoors. They are also finalists in Visit England's 'Access for All' award 2016.
On 11 March (the day before Disabled Access Day), Hoe Grange will be holding an open day in association with Canine Partners. Between 12 and 3, you can drop in for a cuppa and a slice of cake, and if you’re feeling adventurous, zoom across the farm fields in their Boma 7 off-road wheelchair!
The Coastal Cottages: Clynfyw Farm, Pembrokeshire
How about taking a trip to the beautiful coastal region of Pembrokeshire in Wales? Clynfw’s holiday cottages are located in a 200 acre organic farm and woodland, only eight miles from the Cardigan coastline’s stunning beaches, and was awarded Pembrokeshire Tourism’s ‘Best Access for the Disabled Visitor Award’ in 2013.
On Disabled Access Day, Clynfw Farm will be running a Celebration of Inclusive Art, with an exhibition of work by disabled artists and performances from poets and musicians.
The Relaxing Retreat: Homelands Trust, Fife
Do you just want to get away from it all? If you fancy a relaxing weekend away, Homelands Trust in Fife could be for you! As well as four self-catered cottages, the site also contains the Paxton Centre, which offers various therapies, day activities, and encourages people to pop in for a cuppa and a chat.
On Disabled Access Day, Homelands Trust are organising all sorts of relaxing activities to help you take care of both your body and mind. They are planning a day of inclusive activities and therapies, mindfulness, meditation, movement therapy and more. You can also drop by for talks about Accessible Fife and Fatigue Management. They will also be encouraging people to visit local venues and review them on Euan’s Guide.
The Welsh Valley Retreat: Vulcan Lodge Cottages, Rhayader
Vulcan Lodge Cottages are situated in the gorgeous Upper Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. So if you’d like a spend a weekend surrounded by beautiful Welsh mountains, hills and rivers, then Vulcan Lodge’s luxurious holiday cottages will suit you down to the ground!
To celebrate Disabled Access Day, Vulcan Lodge Cottages will be offering a 50% discount for the weekend of 11th March (3 nights), so it’s the perfect opportunity to get planning your Welsh weekend retreat. The Scottish Adventure: Crathie Opportunity Holidays
