The Story of the #AccessDay arrow!
When it comes to accessibility, signposting is one of the easiest, but most neglected, forms of inclusion for disabled people. The amount of confidence that easy-to-read directions, an induction loop symbol or boarding platform for wheelchair users brings to disabled travellers and their friends is truly invaluable. At Disabled Access Day, we have a signposting tool of our own: our #AccessDay arrows!
What’s the story of the arrow? Well, when Disabled Access Day started in 2015, we wanted participating venues to have something that they could use to signpost and showcase their events, by using the arrow as a directional prop but also as something they could place in photographs and use to draw interest! All the venues received an arrow of their own to also keep as a souvenir of their involvement in such an important day.
Along with our new branding for Disabled Access Day 2017, our arrows have had a makeover, too! Take a look at one here and download an #AccessDay arrow for yourself, place it at your desk, on the back of your chair, wherever….!
