Trot around Bristol's Church Farm Equestrian Centre!
Earlier in the year we announced that Accessibility Mark joined forces with us at Disabled Access Day to encourage more disabled people to consider taking part in horse riding activities and learn about the benefits of spending time with horses.
So far we have wonderful riding centres taking part doing just that next weekend, including the Rossington Hall and Wellow Trekking Centre.
Every Disabled Access Day event is special to us as each one is in the spirit of increasing accessibility and inclusivity. In saying that we felt that we wanted to highlight one Bristol event from Church Farm Equestrian Centre.
Church Farm Equestrian Centre recently gained its Accessibility Mark accreditation, so teaming up with Disabled Access Day is the perfect way to demonstrate the skills the staff acquired during their training with the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Taking place on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 March between 1pm - 3pm, the centre will throw open its doors to welcome new visitors to find out more about horse riding. With a chance to meet the staff and ponies before enjoying a free taster session, which is open to both adults and children.
Riding lessons and usual yard activities will continue throughout the day to provide a real sense of what yard life is like.
There will be a discount available on the day for anyone booking an Accessibility Mark session that takes place during school hours. Homemade cakes and soft drinks will be on sale throughout the event.
Owner Kay Padfield said: “As a small centre we are proud of our Accessibility Mark accreditation and hope the link up with Disabled Access Day will encourage more disabled people to come along to see if riding could be an activity that they would enjoy.”
So if you are in the Bristol area get yourself down to Church Farm, watch the horses have a trot and even have a ride if that takes your fancy! And, of course bring a carrot!
Prior booking is required by calling 07787 561469. Places are limited and the closing date for booking is 8 March.
